Valve Stops Steam Deck LCD Parts at iFixit

Valve appears to be discontinuing the availability of official replacement parts for the Steam Deck LCD model through its partner, iFixit. This comes after a Reddit user shared a support email from iFixit stating that OEM Steam Deck LCD batteries are out of stock and unlikely to be restocked.

A representative from iFixit clarified that Valve is "starting to sunset these parts," indicating the decision is not iFixit's alone. While iFixit is seeking alternative batteries, the move affects only the LCD model, not the newer OLED version. This decision follows Valve's recent discontinuation of the Steam Deck LCD in favor of OLED models.

Online, the move has drawn criticism, with some users accusing Valve of promoting obsolescence and betraying its pro-repair stance, particularly as the LCD model ages and its batteries naturally require replacement.
