Launched in July 2001, Google Image Search was reportedly inspired by the overwhelming demand to see Jennifer Lopez's iconic green Versace dress from the 2000 Grammy Awards. Engineers recognized that users often wanted to see images rather than just read about them.

The updated Google Images will feature a continuously updated gallery of visuals tailored to users' interests, based on their web and search history. This personalized approach aims to provide a more engaging and relevant experience, moving beyond the current minimalist search bar interface.
