SK Telecom and Panmnesia have signed a strategic agreement at MWC26 to develop next-generation AI data center architecture using Compute Express Link technology. The partnership aims to address the inefficiencies of traditional server configurations where fixed CPU, GPU, and memory ratios limit scalability and drive up costs.

Current AI data centers face two major challenges: resource waste from static server designs and performance degradation from network overhead. The companies propose a disaggregated architecture where computing resources are separated and flexibly composed as needed through CXL Fabric Switch technology. This approach eliminates the need to deploy unnecessary GPUs when memory capacity is insufficient.

The collaboration will replace traditional network interconnects with CXL, enabling direct communication between GPUs, CPUs, and memory without software intervention. Panmnesia will provide CXL Fabric Switches and Link Controllers while SK Telecom leads architecture design for real-world deployment. The companies plan to validate their architecture with real AI models by year-end, with commercialization following proof-of-concept deployments.
