KIOXIA America has unveiled its Super High IOPS SSD series, the GP Series, designed to enable direct GPU access to high-speed flash memory as an expansion to High Bandwidth Memory in AI systems. The new SSDs address growing performance demands in AI and high-performance computing by providing larger GPU-accessible memory capacity. This development supports NVIDIA's Storage-Next initiative, which calls for drives optimized specifically for GPU-initiated AI workloads.

The KIOXIA GP Series leverages the company's XL-FLASH Storage Class Memory technology, delivering significantly higher IOPS, finer-grained data access at 512 bytes, and lower power consumption per IO compared to conventional TLC SSDs. This architecture effectively expands HBM capacity by enabling GPUs to access flash-based memory, allowing access to larger data sets and improving GPU utilization. Evaluation samples will be available to select customers by the end of 2026.

Additionally, KIOXIA announced the CM9 Series PCIe 5.0 E3.S SSD, offering a substantial 25.6 TB TLC capacity with 3 DWPD endurance to support large-scale inference environments. The company believes this storage class will play a critical role in scaling efficient, cost-optimized AI infrastructure. Samples of the CM9 Series will begin shipping in Q3 2026, with KIOXIA demonstrating both products at NVIDIA GTC in booth 3522.
