Kioxia America, Inc. has announced the KIOXIA NX1 Series, a new generation of E1.S PCIe 5.0 NVMe data center SSDs. These drives are designed to support direct liquid cooling and feature Kioxia's in-house developed controller architecture. Engineered for high performance and power efficiency, the NX1 Series targets GPU-enabled servers and hyperscale data center environments.

The successor to the XD series, the NX1 leverages PCIe 5.0 to enhance infrastructure optimization for cloud providers and hyperscale operators. Compared to the previous generation, these new SSDs offer up to 38% higher sequential write performance and up to 20% higher random write performance. The E1.S form factor maximizes storage density and supports advanced thermal management, including direct liquid cooling for efficient heat dissipation in high-performance AI server environments.

The KIOXIA NX1 Series is available in E1.S 9.5 mm (supporting direct liquid and air cooling) and E1.S 15 mm (air cooling) form factors, with capacities ranging from 1.92 TB to 15.36 TB. They comply with PCIe 5.0, NVMe 2.0, OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD 2.6 specifications, and support NVMe Flexible Data Placement. Built with Kioxia's Bi CS FLASH generation 8 TLC memory, the NX1 Series is currently sampling to select hyperscale customers and will be showcased at FMS.
