Bungie is officially ending active development of Destiny 2 after years of declining player numbers. The game's Steam concurrent players dropped from 26,000 in January 2026 to under 11,000 by May, prompting the studio to ship the final update, Monument of Triumph, on June 9, 2026.

The Monument of Triumph update serves as "a collection of love letters" to players, featuring narrative additions, a reworked Director screen, new Pantheon with boss challenges, updated Raid and Dungeon loot, and new abilities for all three classes. The game will remain playable after live-service support concludes.

With seasonal events ending, Bungie will launch Destiny 2: The Collection bundle on June 9, offering all content packs in a single purchase. The update also brings back the Sparrow Racing League permanently, giving players one final content package before the game transitions to a maintenance-only phase.
