AcuRite retires My AcuRite app, launches new dashboard

AcuRite told users it will retire the My AcuRite mobile app, citing an obsolete codebase that can no longer be supported. Senior product manager Bovee explained that maintaining two separate apps would strain resources, requiring constant updates, hosting, and security patches as smartphones and cloud services evolve. The decision eliminates the older platform entirely. Users who rely on real‑time alerts will need to switch soon.

The company also pulled the web‑based dashboard that let customers configure stations via a browser, because the dashboard, app, cloud services and device connections all shared the same legacy infrastructure. Bovee said AcuRite is building a new online console called AcuRite NOW, but gave no firm launch timeline, leaving users in limbo. Current subscribers are encouraged to export their settings before the service shuts down.

Long‑time owners worry the transition will render their weather stations useless, but Bovee stressed the firm invested heavily to migrate legacy hardware onto the new platform. He acknowledged frustration, promised ongoing bug fixes, and urged patience while the team refines usability. The shift also pressures competitors to modernize their own IoT ecosystems. Ultimately, AcuRite aims to restore confidence by delivering a smoother experience through AcuRite NOW.
