Samuel Eto'o Backs Infantino on FIFA Investment Plan

Samuel Eto'o has pledged his support for Gianni Infantino, stating that the FIFA president was not wrong to propose selling part of the World Cup to private investors. Despite facing pressure from UEFA, Concacaf, and the AFC, who are considering a no-confidence vote, Eto'o argues the criticism is unwarranted and driven by election timing.

The proposal aimed to raise up to $20 billion in private investment, offering each of FIFA's 211 member associations $20 million upfront and an additional $66 million over 12 years. Eto'o believes this would help level the playing field for historically struggling nations, particularly in Africa, allowing them to compete with big football powers and retain top talent like Kylian Mbappé.

Eto'o dismissed the outrage as exaggerated, claiming major nations dominate media space. However, prominent players including Mikael Silvestre, Lucy Bronze, and Emmanuel Petit have called for leadership change, citing FIFA's drift from core values and lack of player consultation.
