Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have confirmed the sale of a minority stake in the club to a consortium led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia. The consortium, named 1892 Holdings, includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos through his K5 Sports fund and the family office of Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.

Sources indicate the stake is around 30%, valuing Liverpool at approximately £5.5 billion ($7.45 billion). This marks Bezos' first major investment in sports. Elaine Saverin is set to join Liverpool's board, while Bezos will be represented by Bryan Baum.

"We are incredibly proud to be investing in Liverpool Football Club and to be doing so alongside FSG," Bhatia stated. "We have the utmost respect and admiration for FSG as owners and for everything they have achieved at Anfield." FSG, who acquired the club for £300 million in 2010, will retain majority ownership and operational control. This is the first external minority investment since Dynasty Equity purchased a 3% stake in September 2023.
