Liverpool's ownership group, FSG, has agreed to sell a minority stake of around one-third of the club to a consortium led by Amit Bhatia, which includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. This investment values the club at approximately £6 billion ($6-7 billion), marking one of the richest deals in sports history.

Bezos, with an estimated fortune exceeding £207 billion ($280 billion), is making his first foray into sports ownership. While he will not join the Liverpool board, Bhatia will serve as vice-chair. The deal aims to enhance Liverpool's long-term growth by bringing in experts in global business, technology, and investment, though FSG will retain majority ownership and operational control.

FSG president Mike Gordon stated that the consortium shares the club's long-term philosophy. Bhatia expressed pride in the investment. Analysis indicates this is a strategic, long-term partnership with no immediate impact on transfer budgets or the club's football strategy, as Liverpool was not seeking investment out of financial need but rather for the caliber of the investors involved.
