Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have agreed to sell approximately one-third of the club to a consortium, which includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The group, led by businessman Amit Bhatia, also features Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. This marks Bezos's first foray into sports ownership, though he will not join the club's board. The deal is said to value the club between £5bn and £6bn. FSG states the investment will support Liverpool's long-term growth by bringing in experts from global business, technology, and investment.

Bhatia is slated to become Liverpool's vice-chairman, pending regulatory approval. The investment comes as Liverpool announced record revenues of £703m for the 2024-25 financial year. FSG, which purchased Liverpool for £300m in 2010, will retain majority ownership and operational control.

Concerns have been raised by fan groups regarding the consortium's intentions and the potential impact of an owner associated with Amazon's labor practices. However, FSG emphasized that the transaction will not affect the club's transfer window strategy or budget.
