Shakhtar Donetsk Eyes Stamford Bridge for Champions League

Shakhtar Donetsk is considering playing their European matches at Stamford Bridge, according to BBC Sport Football. The Ukrainian club explored several west London venues, including Fulham's Craven Cottage and Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium, but both have smaller capacities than Stamford Bridge.

Officials believe they can sell out the larger Chelsea stadium when facing Europe's biggest clubs or English rivals. The move aims to connect with the approximately 32,000 Ukraine-born residents in London, based on recent Office for National Statistics data.

About 100,000 people of Ukrainian heritage live in the UK, making this a strategic outreach effort. Chelsea's 10th-place Premier League finish last season means they won't have European football, reducing scheduling conflicts.

However, any additional fixtures at Stamford Bridge would require approval from Hammersmith and Fulham Council and UEFA.
