Enzo Fernández to Stay at Chelsea as Man City Miss Deadline

Chelsea expects midfielder Enzo Fernández to remain at the club for the upcoming season after no team met their £120 million ($161.8m) valuation by a self-imposed deadline. The club had set a specific timeframe for offers for the Argentina international, who had expressed a desire to leave Stamford Bridge.

Despite reported interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid, no formal bid was submitted. Sources indicate that the conditions Chelsea communicated for a potential sale have now expired, leading the club to anticipate Fernández, 25, will stay for the entire campaign, potentially closing the door on a January exit.

Fernández is contracted until 2032, and Chelsea aimed to profit on the player they acquired from Benfica for £107m in February 2023. While Real Madrid's new boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly an admirer, the Spanish club stated they would not make an offer this summer. Manchester City's pursuit is complicated by uncertainty over Rodri's future.
