The Dallas Stars made a significant move ahead of the NHL trade deadline, acquiring veteran defenseman Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. The 6-foot-8 blueliner brings much-needed physicality to Dallas' blue line, where he'll likely slot into a third-pairing role behind stars like Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley.

Vancouver receives a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL entry draft and a fourth-round pick in 2029, while retaining half of Myers' remaining contract to reduce his cap hit to $1.5 million this season and next. The 36-year-old has one goal and eight points in 57 games for the struggling Canucks, who have hovered near the bottom of the league standings all season.

Myers, in the second season of a three-year $3 million AAV contract, had a full no-movement clause that recently shifted to a 12-team no-trade list. The Stars, currently second in the Western Conference with a 10-game winning streak, are clearly positioning themselves as Stanley Cup contenders by adding defensive depth for their playoff run.
