Giants WR Olszewski Suffers Potential Torn Achilles in OTAs

New York Giants wide receiver Gunner Olszewski went down during Friday's organized team activities with a noncontact injury that the team fears is a torn Achilles tendon, according to sources. The veteran receiver immediately grabbed his right leg and was carted off the field, slamming his fist in frustration as teammates looked on.

Coach John Harbaugh described the injury as a noncontact change in direction during practice on the grass field. This would mark the third Giants player to suffer a torn Achilles this spring, joining defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris and undrafted rookie Thaddeus Dixon on the injury list.

Olszewski re-signed with the Giants on a one-year deal this offseason, primarily serving as a return specialist rather than a receiving threat. He played in 16 games last season with eight catches for 102 yards in a Week 18 start against Dallas. The 29-year-old missed all of 2024 due to injuries and has appeared in 81 career games with five starts.

The injury leaves the Giants thin at wide receiver with Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton still rehabbing from knee and core muscle issues respectively. New York had shown interest in signing Odell Beckham Jr. earlier this offseason, but this latest setback intensifies the need for depth at the position.
