Nabers Knee Injury Timeline Uncertain

Malik Nabers' torn ACL recovery has taken an unexpected turn with a second surgery needed to remove scar tissue. Coach John Harbaugh described the injury as "not a simple knee" issue, clouding the Giants' star receiver's return timeline. The 2024 record-setting rookie, who caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards, now faces an uncertain path back for the crucial Week 1 matchup against Dallas.

Without Nabers, the Giants scramble for offensive options. Darius Slayton also sits out with core muscle surgery, leaving quarterback Jaxson Dart without top targets. Receivers Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, and rookie Malachi Fields have rotated with the first team during OTAs. The Giants originally hoped Nabers might return by training camp, but that timeline now appears unrealistic.

Nabers remains in the building rehabbing daily, though he hasn't participated in practices. "It's such a hard thing. It's an ACL, and whatever else he had in that knee," Harbaugh noted. The Giants prepare for either scenario with Nabers available or not, but the reality is his record-breaking season of 2024 remains distant memory as he battles through the physical and mental challenges of recovery.
