All-Star right-hander Chase Burns and the Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a seven-year, $105 million contract extension, sources confirmed.

Burns, 23, is considered one of baseball's top young pitchers. This season, he has posted an 11-1 record with a 2.54 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 18 starts. The deal, which includes no club options and extends through 2033, buys out two of Burns' free-agent years and represents the largest extension ever for a pitcher with less than four years of MLB service.

In his second season, Burns has emerged as an ace for the Reds, who are currently last in the National League Central. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft out of Wake Forest and made his major league debut less than a year later, showcasing a 35.6% strikeout rate in his rookie season.
