Stefon Diggs claims he's better than any NFL WR2 while unsigned

Free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs declared on his YouTube channel that no team's current No. 2 option is better than him, even as he remains unsigned weeks before training camps open. The 32-year-old was released by the New England Patriots in March in a cap-saving move — he would have counted $26.5 million against the 2026 salary cap — after the team acquired A.J. Brown and signed Romeo Doubs.

Diggs produced a seventh career 1,000-yard season in 2025, leading New England with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season. He added 14 catches for 110 yards and a score in four postseason games during the Patriots' Super Bowl run. The performance completed a rebound from a 2024 season-ending knee injury during a one-year stint with the Houston Texans.

The NFL closed its personal conduct review of Diggs last month, finding insufficient evidence of a policy violation. A jury found him not guilty in May of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges stemming from a dispute with his private chef.

Diggs' combination of recent production and cleared legal status should generate interest from receiver-needy teams, though his age and $26.5 million prior cap hit suggest a short-term, incentive-laden deal rather than a multi-year commitment.
