Cam Skattebo took handoffs and ran drills at New York Giants minicamp less than eight months after suffering an open tibia fracture and right ankle dislocation. The fourth-round pick participated in both individual and team sessions, signaling a successful rehabilitation from the gruesome October injury.

Head coach John Harbaugh praised Skattebo's work ethic and confirmed his progress. The running back recently performed his trademark backflip at a charity softball game, his first since the injury, showing he's regaining confidence. Skattebo insists he'll be ready for the Sept. 13 season opener against Dallas.

While Skattebo nears full health, the Giants face uncertainty at wide receiver with Malik Nabers recovering from ACL surgery. Skattebo averaged 2.15 yards after contact per carry last season, ranking among the top 20 running backs had he qualified. Tyrone Tracy Jr. provides additional depth, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

Skattebo's downhill running style fits Harbaugh's preferred approach, and he plans to maintain his physical mindset despite the injury. The Giants report to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia for training camp with renewed optimism at running back.

The position appears stabilized with Skattebo and Tracy forming a capable duo, though Nabers' availability remains questionable.
