New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger could begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton as early as Thursday, marking another step in his recovery from a left hamstring strain.

Bellinger has been on the 10-day injured list since July 26. He reported feeling "about as 100 percent as I can give in a non-game setting" in recent days and expects to play in multiple rehab games. The three-time All-Star, selected for the 2026 season, is batting .259 with 11 homers in 103 games this year.

Meanwhile, Yankees manager Aaron Boone remains optimistic about left-handed starter Max Fried's latest injured list stint. Fried was placed on the 15-day IL retroactively to Friday due to lingering inflammation from a left elbow bone bruise that previously sidelined him for over two months. Boone believes Fried's recovery timeline should be shorter this time around.

Fried has posted a 2.81 ERA across 15 starts (86 1/3 innings) this season. Boone emphasized the team's decision to address the inflammation early to prevent it from becoming a more significant issue.
