Cincinnati Reds infielder/outfielder Michael Toglia will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday on his right shoulder to repair a torn labrum. The injury occurred Friday when Toglia dislocated his shoulder making a diving catch against Arizona at Chase Field. Manager Terry Francona announced the news Monday before a series at San Francisco.

Team orthopedist Dr. Tim Kremchek will perform the procedure, and Toglia will rehabilitate in San Diego near family. The 28-year-old switch-hitter batted .115 with one RBI over 10 games this season. He was a first-round pick (23rd overall) by Colorado in the 2019 draft out of UCLA.

To fill the roster spot, the Reds recalled infielder/outfielder Ivan Johnson from Triple-A Louisville.
