Major League Baseball and the Minnesota Twins are investigating Jarren Duran's claim that a fan told him to kill himself during Tuesday's game. The Boston Red Sox outfielder directed his middle finger at a fan after a fifth-inning groundout in Minnesota's 6-0 victory. Duran, who has publicly discussed his struggles with depression, acknowledged his reaction was inappropriate but said the comment was "triggering."

MLB confirms it's reviewing the conduct of both the player and fan per standard procedure. Red Sox manager Alex Cora stated the team has Duran's full support. "We have Jarren's back," Cora said, referencing Duran's openness about mental health that "saved lives." Duran expressed regret for discussing his mental health, feeling it brought in "haters" but maintaining he's trying to avoid being a distraction.

The investigation aims to identify the fan responsible for the comment, with Cora suggesting the individual likely won't attend another major league game. The Twins organization emphasized "there's no place in our game for conduct like that." Duran continues to balance his public advocacy with professional responsibilities as the season progresses.
