Trey Mancini, the 2021 AL Comeback Player of the Year for his return from colon cancer, announced his retirement after a brief five-game stint with the Los Angeles Angels.

Mancini, 34, signed a minor league contract with the Angels in February and played for Triple-A Salt Lake, hitting .273 with six homers and 29 RBIs. He made his first major league appearance since 2023 on June 14, recording three hits in a 5-4 loss to Houston before being designated for assignment three days later.

The former Orioles first baseman thanked baseball and multiple organizations in his Instagram post, including Baltimore, Houston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Miami, and Arizona. He won a World Series ring in 2022 after being traded from Baltimore to Houston.

Mancini finished his MLB career batting .263 with 129 homers and 404 RBIs across parts of six seasons with the Orioles. He missed the 2020 season following surgery to remove a malignant colon tumor before making a successful return in 2021.
