USC announced Sunday that Chad Baker-Mazara, the Trojans' leading scorer, is no longer with the men's basketball program. The 26-year-old graduate student left Saturday's game against No. 12 Nebraska early in the second half after a hard fall following a blocked shot. Baker-Mazara told coach Eric Musselman he couldn't continue playing.

Baker-Mazara sat near injured star Rodney Rice among fans rather than on the bench, reportedly due to a shortage of chairs. The school provided no reason for his departure, with spokesperson Kristen Keller stating through text message that no additional information would be shared. Musselman said he hadn't consulted trainers about Baker-Mazara's health status after the player indicated he couldn't go back in.

Baker-Mazara transferred to USC last spring for his fifth college stop, having previously played at San Diego State, Auburn, and Northwest Florida State. He became USC's top offensive option after Rice's season-ending injury, averaging a career-high 18.5 points per game. The Trojans have now lost five straight games and face uncertainty about their NCAA tournament hopes heading into their final regular-season games against Washington and UCLA.
