Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17e, a mid-range device powered by the A19 chip that delivers up to 2x faster performance than the iPhone 11. The new model features a 6-core GPU, 4-core Neural Engine optimized for generative AI, and Apple's latest C1X modem from the iPhone Air for up to 2x faster cellular speeds compared to the iPhone 16e.

Addressing a major gap from its predecessor, the iPhone 17e now includes MagSafe connectivity for magnetic accessories and improved wireless charging up to 15W with a 20W adapter. The device also offers faster wired charging, reaching 50% in about 30 minutes, while maintaining the same 26-hour battery life. The front display now uses Ceramic Shield 2 with 3x better scratch resistance and anti-reflective properties.

Photography sees upgrades with an improved Portrait mode that automatically detects objects and supports next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control. The iPhone 17e starts at 256GB of storage for the same $599 price as the 128GB iPhone 16e, available in black, white, and soft pink. Pre-orders begin March 4 with availability on March 11.
