Apple TV users can now use four HomePods as speakers with the tvOS 27.2 beta 2 update, as discovered by Flatpanels HD. The feature supports pairing two full-size HomePods and two HomePod minis wirelessly to Apple TV 4K for enhanced audio. However, the functionality is not yet complete, as users cannot assign specific roles to speaker pairs, such as designating front or rear channels.

While it works with Atmos and video surround sound, menu and game audio currently only outputs through front speakers. The update references earlier beta discoveries from HomePod 27 beta 8. This development coincides with widespread rumors of a major Apple Home product overhaul expected in October, potentially including new Apple TV 4K and HomePod models.

The feature represents a significant upgrade from previous single HomePod audio output options, though full role assignment awaits future software refinement.
