Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17e, a $599 budget smartphone that brings several key upgrades over its predecessor. The device features the same A19 chip as the standard iPhone 17 and supports Apple Intelligence AI tools. Storage doubles to 256GB in the base model, and a new pink color option joins the lineup.

Most notably, the iPhone 17e finally adds MagSafe charging at Qi2 speeds, delivering 15W wireless charging compared to the previous 7.5W. The device also includes Apple's C1X cellular modem, which the company claims is up to 2x faster than the C1 in last year's model. The 6.1-inch Super Retina display now features Ceramic Shield 2, offering 3x better scratch resistance and reduced glare.

The iPhone 17e retains the 48-megapixel Fusion camera system from its predecessor, using a single sensor to provide two camera pipelines and optical-quality 2x telephoto. The device maintains its IP68 rating and adds satellite capabilities for Emergency SOS and Roadside Assistance. Pre-orders begin March 4 with availability starting March 11.
