Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17e, bringing MagSafe wireless charging to its affordable iPhone lineup for the first time. The new model starts at $599 with 256GB storage — double the capacity of last year's iPhone 16e. Apple is also introducing a new soft pink color option alongside black and white variants.

Powered by the A19 chip and C1X modem, the iPhone 17e delivers performance comparable to flagship models. The device features a 48MP Fusion camera capable of 4K Dolby Vision video and optical-quality 2x telephoto. This marks Apple's shift to annual updates for its entry-level iPhone, treating it more like a flagship model than the previous three-year SE cycle.

The addition of MagSafe enables magnetic accessory attachment and improved wireless charging alignment. Pre-orders begin March 4 with availability on March 11. Apple's decision to upgrade the base storage to 256GB while maintaining the $599 price point represents significant value, especially compared to the $899 512GB iPhone 16e.
