iPhone 17e: Apple's $599 MagSafe Upgrade

Apple unveiled the iPhone 17e with an A19 chip, MagSafe support, and 256GB storage for $599. The new model comes in black, white, and pastel pink, featuring a 6.1-inch 60Hz OLED display, a notched design, and a single 48MP rear camera. MagSafe returns after being absent from the iPhone 16e, addressing a notable gap in Apple's budget lineup.

Compared to its predecessor, the 17e offers significant upgrades including double the storage at 256GB versus 128GB and a newer processor. However, the $200 price difference between the 17e and the standard iPhone 17 remains a challenge. The more expensive model provides a better main camera, ultra-wide lens, slightly larger 6.3-inch display with ProMotion, and Dynamic Island technology.

The iPhone 17e launch is part of Apple's busy announcement schedule ahead of a special event Wednesday. Alongside the new phone, Apple introduced an iPad Air with M4 chip and plans to debut a low-end iPad and a MacBook priced below the MacBook Air. These releases suggest Apple is expanding its product range across multiple price points.
