Factories Ready for iPhone 20 Glass Redesign

Apple’s supply chain factories have finished renovations ahead of iPhone 20 production, a Weibo leaker reports. The leaker, Fixed Focus Digital, said the new model will return to an all‑glass design, aiming for quality comparable to the first‑generation iPhone Air.

The post states the relevant manufacturing facility has already been renovated and is waiting for machining to begin, though no supplier name was disclosed. Lens Technology makes iPhone cover glass and previously took over metal‑frame and glass‑back assembly plants from Catcher Technology.

Apple typically reaches full‑scale production only weeks before launch. For the iPhone 17, trial production began in June with full‑volume output targeted for August, about a month before the September release. The current info likely refers to early retooling steps.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted that Apple is aiming for a mostly glass, curved iPhone with no display cutouts, launching in September 2027. The leaker also reiterated that aluminum frames will persist in straight‑edge phones, leaving room for a distinct curved‑edge design on the anniversary model.
