iPhone 20 Curved Glass Uses iPhone Air Process

Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone 20 will use the same glass manufacturing process developed for the iPhone Air, according to leaker Fixed Focus Digital. In a Weibo post, the leaker stated that iPhone Air manufacturing equipment has been modified to produce more rounded glass components for the 2027 device, reducing manufacturing costs. Heat dissipation and thinness have both improved substantially as a result.

The claim builds on an earlier report that a supply chain facility completed renovations ahead of iPhone 20 production, with quality matching the first-generation iPhone Air. That model is Apple's thinnest at 5.6mm and features a polished titanium frame with glass back.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously reported Apple aims for a "mostly glass, curved iPhone without any cutouts in the display" for the 20th anniversary, with glass wrapping all sides. The anniversary models are expected to launch in fall 2027, following the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 in spring.
