Apple Eyes Privacy-Focused Glasses for WWDC 2027

Apple is slated to unveil its first smart glasses at WWDC 2027 next June, with a heavy emphasis on privacy, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

The company is prototyping a "slew of new hardware and software-related privacy features" not found on current products, Gurman said. While specifics remain hush‑hush, Apple’s marketing is expected to spotlight the privacy safeguards of its glasses against rivals such as Meta Ray‑Bans.

In a climate where camera‑equipped glasses raise surveillance concerns, Gurman noted that Apple has experimented with models that either lack photo/video recording or have no camera system at all. The most likely outcome is glasses that include cameras but with privacy protections that the brand is known for.

Like the Meta Ray‑Bans, Apple’s glasses will feature speakers and microphones for music, calls, and Siri notifications. Apple aims to start shipping the devices to customers in late 2027.
