Samsung Display has officially begun OLED panel production for Apple's rumored foldable iPhone, reportedly set to launch as the iPhone Ultra this September. The supplier received the green light after hitting over 80% manufacturing yield, a critical milestone for mass production.

Apple's Vietnamese manufacturing facility is already operational, producing an initial batch of 3 million OLED panels. This partnership marks a significant shift, as Samsung Display becomes the exclusive supplier for what would be Apple's first entry into the foldable smartphone market.

The panels will use Samsung's newer M16 luminescent material instead of the originally reported M14 stack, delivering higher brightness, better color reproduction, improved power efficiency, and extended lifespan. Samsung's Color Filter on Encapsulation technology also integrates into the display design.

This development signals Apple's serious commitment to foldable technology, potentially reshaping the premium smartphone segment. Samsung's early lead in production gives them leverage in what could become a defining rivalry.
