Apple plans to release iPad mini and MacBook Pro models with OLED displays later this year, according to industry sources who spoke to South Korea's ETNews. The current iPad mini and MacBook Pro models use LCD displays with LED or mini-LED backlighting. The move to OLED technology would deliver improved image quality with richer colors and higher contrast ratios featuring true blacks.

Samsung will supply the OLED displays for both devices, the report said. All of Apple's current iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad Pro models already feature OLED displays, excluding refurbished units. The transition marks Apple's continued push to standardize OLED across its product lineup after successfully implementing the technology in its flagship devices.

Other rumored features for the next iPad mini include an A19 Pro or A20 Pro chip, a vibration-based speaker system, and water-resistant design. Apple is expected to announce the device in September or October this year. For the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, other rumored upgrades include M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, a touch screen, Dynamic Island, and thinner design. Apple reportedly plans to release these laptops toward the end of 2026, though the launch could slip to early 2027.
