Qualcomm's roadmap reveals two additional Snapdragon 8-series processors beyond the expected 2nm Elite Gen 6 chips. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the company is developing a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5XX variant and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro, both built on 3nm process technology.

These new chips join the previously reported Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (SM8950) and Gen 6 Pro (SM8975) that will use 2nm manufacturing. The Gen 5XX carries part number SM8850 Q, while the Gen 5 Pro uses SM8845 Pro, suggesting refined versions of last year's Gen 5 lineup.

Details on specifications remain scarce, though the Pro variants typically offer enhanced performance over standard models. The Gen 5 chips debuted at September's Snapdragon Summit, indicating similar timing for these latest additions later this year.

For smartphone makers and consumers, this expanded roadmap means more processor options across different price segments and performance tiers. The additional variants could help Qualcomm compete more aggressively against MediaTek's Dimensity lineup while giving manufacturers flexibility in their flagship device strategies.
