MediaTek is reportedly preparing to launch not one, but three variants of its upcoming Dimensity 9600 System on Chip (SoC) this year. A new rumor suggests that alongside a "Dimensity 9600s"—essentially an improved Dimensity 9500+ built on a 3nm process—there will be two higher-tier versions: the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600 Pro Max.

These two premium variants are expected to be manufactured using TSMC's more advanced 2nm process. The Pro and Pro Max models are anticipated to feature distinct CPU configurations, mirroring rumored plans for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The Dimensity 9600s, due to its older 3nm process, is not expected to compete directly with the top-tier Snapdragon chips.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is likely to be MediaTek's competitor to the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Dimensity 9600 Pro Max will aim for the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. The new Dimensity 9600 series is slated for an September debut in devices such as the vivo X500 series and the Oppo Find X10 family.
