Subaru unveiled the Getaway at the New York International Auto Show, marking its entry into the three-row electric SUV market. Built on Toyota's e-TNGA platform, the Getaway shares many features with the upcoming 2027 Highlander EV, including 420 horsepower and Symmetrical all-wheel drive. The first models arriving late this year will feature a 95.8kWh battery promising over 300 miles of range and a zero to 60 time under five seconds.

The Getaway's charging capabilities, while equipped with a native NACS-compatible port, are modest at best. Subaru estimates a 150kW system will recharge from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. The SUV includes cold-weather preconditioning technology to maintain charging speeds in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Later in 2027, Subaru plans to release a standard-range version with a 77kWh battery pack.

Inside, the Getaway offers flexible seating for up to seven passengers with either a second-row bench or captain's chairs. The 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. With 8.3 inches of ground clearance, X-Mode off-road settings, and a 3,500-pound towing capacity, the Getaway maintains Subaru's reputation for adventure-ready vehicles while targeting families making the transition to electric.
