Spotify has announced a significant milestone, surpassing 300 million paying subscribers. This figure, revealed in their second-quarter earnings, represents a 9% year-over-year increase and complements their 777 million monthly active users. The audio streaming giant has diversified its offerings beyond music to include podcasts and audiobooks.

In contrast, Apple Music last disclosed subscriber numbers in 2019, reaching 60 million. However, Apple recently announced a broader milestone of 1.5 billion paid subscriptions across its services, including iCloud+ and Apple TV, with a substantial portion attributed to third-party App Store sales. Both services have seen price increases this year, with Spotify’s US Individual plan rising to $12.99 and Apple Music’s to $11.99.

Spotify has rolled out numerous features, such as Taste Profile controls, Song DNA, and video podcast upgrades. Apple Music is set to introduce further enhancements in iOS 27, including redesigned artist and album pages and improved Siri integration.
