Kia has unveiled its new entry-level electric vehicle, the EV2, at the Brussels Motor Show. This budget-friendly EV offers up to 240 miles of range, making it an attractive option for those seeking an affordable entry into the electric vehicle market. The EV2 is built on Kia/Hyundai's E-GMP platform and is positioned as an entry point to electric mobility.

It features a modern design that resembles the company's previous Soul model but with improved aesthetics and interior space. The EV2 will be available with two battery options: a 42kWh battery providing around 170 miles of EPA range and a 61kWh battery offering up to 240 miles. While the charging speed of 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes is competitive, it falls slightly behind some rivals like the Volvo EX30.

The interior is highlighted as a 'Picnic Box,' offering generous space and multiple USB-C ports for modern connectivity. Kia's strategy with the EV2 is to provide an accessible EV option that can compete in the growing European market. However, the company has not announced plans for US availability, indicating a focus on European and other global markets for the time being.
