Foldable iPhone Launch In Doubt

Apple's highly anticipated foldable iPhone, potentially dubbed the "iPhone Ultra," faces an uncertain launch window due to production challenges. Supply chain sources indicate that final plans must be solidified before mass production can commence.

Recent reports have been a mix of positive and negative. While Apple reportedly increased orders for a vapor cooling system for the foldable, rumors of delays, particularly concerning the hinge, have persisted. A July 2026 report attempted to quell fears of missing the fall release, but a new DigiTimes report suggests the launch is again in question.

Assembler Foxconn is reportedly still adjusting its mass production plans for the iPhone Ultra. Issues with the foldable display and hinge are cited as key challenges that could lead to a delay of up to two months in the engineering validation process. While Apple may still announce the device in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models, its shipping date remains a significant question, with October or November being suggested possibilities.
