Legendary technology columnist, pundit, author, and podcast host John C. Dvorak has died at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Mimi Dvorak.

Dvorak was best known for co-hosting the "No Agenda" podcast with Adam Curry, where he critiqued mainstream news media. His death was announced by the podcast on X, though his age was initially misstated as 74. The "No Agenda" newsletter confirmed his passing on Monday morning, July 20th, 2026, stating, "John's own hardware finally gave out... He went peacefully, albeit suddenly, with Mimi at his side."

Born in Los Angeles in 1946, Dvorak began his career writing about wine before transitioning to technology. He contributed to prominent publications like PC Magazine and The New York Times throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Known for his controversial and engaging columns, he was unafraid to voice unpopular opinions, as seen in his early critique of the iPad. Dvorak also authored over a dozen books, appeared on CNET Central, hosted radio shows, and co-developed a typing game.
