Gemini for Home is now available in 16 new countries and 7 languages, ending its North America-only exclusivity. Google’s voice assistant now supports Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and more. The update includes 40% faster smart home response times for common commands like turning on lights, while improved context-aware features let users control devices with greater precision. For example, Gemini can now distinguish between “lights” and “lamps” and use location data for localized news and weather updates.

The expansion follows a community blog post where Google outlined the rollout, which began with invitations to eligible users via the Google Home app. While the feature remains opt-in, most eligible users should gain access within a week. The update also introduces world-aware alarms for event reminders and enhanced live camera search for Google Home Premium users.

Despite the progress, the rollout still excludes key markets like India, making the expansion feel incomplete. Google’s focus on performance improvements and device understanding suggests a push to compete with rivals in the smart home space. Users in supported regions can now test Gemini for Home’s capabilities, though broader adoption will depend on future updates and market demand.

This move marks a critical step for Google in making Gemini for Home a truly global product. By addressing latency and contextual accuracy, the company aims to solidify its position in the competitive smart home assistant market. For now, the feature’s availability in Europe and Asia-Pacific regions highlights its growing relevance, even as gaps remain in emerging markets.
