Apple released iOS 26.3, introducing a groundbreaking Transfer to Android feature developed in collaboration with Google. This allows iPhone users to wirelessly migrate photos, messages, apps, and phone numbers to Android devices by placing them near each other. Sensitive data like Health records and locked notes remain excluded, with Apple hinting at expanded transfers in future updates.

The update also introduces EU-specific enhancements under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), including proximity pairing for third-party accessories and NFC-driven device connections. A new privacy toggle limits cellular network location tracking to neighborhood-level data, available on iPhone Air, 16e, and iPad Pro (M5) models. These changes aim to foster a more interconnected digital ecosystem across Europe.

Security fixes address over 35 vulnerabilities, including one actively exploited. Meanwhile, wallpaper updates split Weather and Astronomy categories, adding new pre-built options. The EU features will roll out fully by 2026, aligning with DMA requirements.

This update underscores Apple’s push toward cross-platform flexibility, though its impact hinges on Android adoption rates. Users in supported regions can access location privacy tools immediately, while broader interoperability tools await final testing.
