This interoperability requirement aims to prevent platform lock-in.

Another quiet change is a setting to limit carrier location tracking, a feature currently supported only by Boost Mobile in the U.S. and a handful of international carriers like EE and Telekom. This functionality is restricted to iPhones with C1 or C1X modems, making its immediate user impact quite narrow.

The update also tested Europe-specific changes for third-party wearables, including proximity pairing and richer notifications. However, these features may not appear in the final release and could be held for a future update. With the beta cycle centered on DMA compliance, iOS 26.4 is expected to deliver more substantial new features.
