Jonas Vingegaard cemented his place among cycling's elite on Sunday, becoming only the eighth rider to win all three men's Grand Tours with his Giro d'Italia triumph in Rome. The Visma-Lease a Bike rider, 29, added the pink jersey to his 2022 and 2023 Tour de France victories plus last year's Vuelta a Espana win, completing a remarkable collection of stage race titles.

His five minute 33 second winning margin over Austria's Felix Gall demonstrated total superiority across the three-week race. Australia's Jai Hindley claimed third place, finishing over six minutes behind the Dane. The final stage proved largely ceremonial until a dramatic bunch sprint near the Colosseum, where Jonathan Milan launched a powerful sprint to edge out compatriot Giovanni Lonardi and France's Paul Penhoet by a bike length.

Vingegaard's dominance stemmed from calculated attacks on the decisive mountain stages in the Italian Alps and Dolomites. He repeatedly surged in the final 10km of key climbs, setting a punishing pace that no rival could match. This victory marks a stunning comeback after a devastating 2024 crash that left him with a collapsed lung, broken collarbone and multiple rib fractures.

The cycling world now turns to July's Tour de France, where Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar will resume their rivalry. Despite the Dane's impressive form, Pogacar enters as the favorite for the race starting July 4, setting up what promises to be an epic battle between two generational talents.
