Jonas Vingegaard crashed out of the Tour de France on stage 15 after breaking his collarbone when his front wheel slid out on a tight right-hand bend off a roundabout. The concertina effect sent three other riders over Vingegaard and into spectators, with Isaac del Toro landing on a woman with crutches. Vingegaard, a two-time winner in 2022 and 2023 and seen as the only real threat to defending champion Tadej Pogacar, will undergo surgery in the coming days.

Stage 15 was won unexpectedly by Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, who matched Pogacar on the uncategorised final climb to Plateau de Solaison for the first time on such terrain. Evenepoel powered away from del Toro to take victory, moving into second overall.

Pogacar retains the yellow jersey with a 5 minutes lead over Evenepoel, who is 58 seconds ahead of del Toro. Britain's Tom Pidcock featured in the early breakaway, while France's Paul Seixas lost the white jersey.

Questions surround the overnight anti-doping tests that woke Vingegaard at 2am and Pogacar at 5am, with both riders citing disrupted sleep. The ITA defended the controls as necessary for program integrity.
