Tadej Pogacar seized control of the Tour de France, winning stage six on the iconic Col du Tourmalet and reclaiming the yellow jersey. The defending champion launched a decisive attack five kilometers from the summit, building a 30-second lead over rival Jonas Vingegaard and distancing Remco Evenepoel by one minute 45 seconds. Pogacar ultimately finished the 186.2km stage two minutes 38 seconds ahead of Vingegaard.

This dominant performance positions Pogacar, 27, to potentially equal the record of five Tour de France victories. He now leads the general classification by two minutes 42 seconds over Vingegaard. Pogacar described the win as one of his top five career victories, recalling a previous challenging experience on the same climb.

The stage also saw a significant crash for former leader Torstein Traeen, who fell descending the Tourmalet. While Traeen continued, he lost considerable time, falling over 22 minutes behind Pogacar in the standings. Vingegaard, despite a strong recovery from a 2024 crash that impacted his lungs, was unable to match Pogacar's explosive acceleration on the climb, underscoring the significant gap between the two riders.
