Khabib Says Usman Nurmagomedov Will Decide UFC or PFL Future Very Soon

PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov will decide his future "very soon" after becoming a free agent, says his cousin and coach Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov knocked out Archie Colgan in New York to retain his title in the final fight of his PFL contract. The undefeated 28-year-old with 22 victories is widely considered one of the biggest talents outside the UFC.

Khabib compared him to UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev and said negotiations will happen over the next month. The PFL merged with MVP, co-owned by Jake Paul, last week, creating an exciting new chapter. After the bout, Nurmagomedov asked Paul for a bonus, prompting the quip about buying him a car.

UFC president Dana White replied "sure" with a wry smile when asked about signing Nurmagomedov. The Russian has admitted he values money over legacy, raising questions about his next move. Signing with the UFC would open marquee opportunities, but the PFL's new pay structure under the MVP merger could prove equally compelling for the Russian star.
