Former two-time super-lightweight world champion Regis Prograis has announced his retirement from boxing at age 37 following a decisive defeat by Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The American fighter revealed he had planned this to be his final bout months in advance, describing it as a perfect ending to his career.

Prograis, who held the WBA super-lightweight title in 2019 and the WBC super-lightweight crown from 2022 to 2023, finished his career with a 30-4 record, including 24 knockout victories. He admitted to being terrified before the fight and considered pulling out as late as 24 hours before stepping into the ring with Benn. The fighter confirmed pre-fight injury rumors, saying he had been hurt but pushed through.

Despite the loss, Prograis expressed satisfaction with his final fight, calling it a great way to end his career against a strong opponent in front of 70,000 fans. His retirement marks the end of a decorated career that saw him become a two-division world champion, leaving behind a legacy of power punching and championship success.
