Regis Prograis has issued a stark warning to Conor Benn, declaring his opponent's gamble ahead of their upcoming catchweight fight will ultimately backfire. The American, moving up from super-lightweight to challenge Benn at 150lbs with no rehydration limit, told Sky Sports he is perfectly confident in his ability to win despite the significant jump in class. 'They definitely did set it on his terms but for me I know I can win,' Prograis stated. 'I fought at 140lbs my whole career, that's a big jump. Then I said, what about a weight stipulation for the next day? They said no, not going to happen...

I know I'm better, I know what I can do. I'm not worried about weight stipulations. Let's make the fight happen.' Prograis also revealed there is no rematch clause in their contract, though he leaves the door open for a potential future bout if fan demand dictates.

He downplayed Benn's accomplishments, asserting his own record as a two-time world champion and former No. 1 ranked fighter sets him apart. 'I don't think he's really great, I don't think he's really bad,' Prograis commented. 'If you look at accomplishments, mine stick out way more. I've been No 1 in the world twice, I've been champion twice; he never did that, he never accomplished that.' A victory for Prograis is seen as a potential springboard towards a third world title shot, though he remains focused on the immediate challenge. 'It'll be so many opportunities on the table for me,' he said. 'I just know after that fight it'll be something real, real big. I want to be a three-time champion.' The fight is scheduled for Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Benn's home ground where he previously won titles over Chris Eubank Jr.
